Demi Burnett wasn’t excited for Colton Underwood to be the Bachelor

Demi Burnett wasn’t jumping off the walls after learning Colton Underwood was the lead for his season of The Bachelor.

Demi Burnett is a gem of sorts in the Bachelor franchise. She’s outspoken, fierce, and quickly became a fan-favorite from the minute she graced our television screens during Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. Burnett continued to remain in our lives long after leaving Underwood’s season, most recently showing up on Peter Weber’s season for an episode.

But, of course, we can’t forget her time on Bachelor in Paradise which marked a monumental moment for the franchise–a same-sex couple. Unfortunately, she and then-fiance Kristian Haggerty’s relationship did not last very long.

I’ve loved Burnett’s sassiness from the minute she was introduced to the Bachelor franchise, and over a year later, she’s stayed true to herself. While on Nicole Franzel and Victor Arroyo’s podcast, Coco Caliente, Demi Burnett shared a hilarious revelation about being on The Bachelor.

"At first, I didn’t know. I was kinda like—I hate to say that I was bummed about it, but I kinda was. I just wanted it to be anyone else."

That’s right, she was not excited about Underwood. In fact, she was hoping for someone else entirely. Jason Tartick to be precise, but it wasn’t meant to be. And to be honest, we’re not complaining, he’s happily snuggling up with former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe now.

"I think at the time, I was probably like, ‘This guy Jason was, like, the hot commodity,’ I think that I wanted it to be him."

While Demi Burnett wasn’t thrilled about Underwood being the Bachelor, she went on to adore him and the two ended up being friends. It’s funny because I thought Underwood’s season was a rough one, but that all changed after watching Peter Weber’s. And I’m sure Burnett is much more grateful for the season she went through. Ugh, Pilot Pete, don’t remind me.

Looking back, I’m not surprised Burnett wasn’t excited about Underwood. She’s feisty, outspoken, and has no problem telling it how it is. Underwood is pretty much the opposite of that, and the two together don’t make much sense. Can you imagine what a relationship between her and Colton would actually look like? Oh, the horror and the boredom. Colton is far too boring for someone like Demi, and that’s a fact.

That is all in the past, of course, because now both Colton and Demi are happy with their significant others–Cassie Randolph and Slater Davis, respectively. But there’s nothing wrong with looking back and giggling at the past, it always makes for good laughs, doesn’t it?
