The Bachelor: Most iconic seasons series set for summer release
Bachelor Nation has heard your prayers (and cries of pain from Listen To Your Heart). With production halting filming for The Bachelorette, ABC plans to release a nostalgic summer series of The Bachelor to fill the void.
It appears that Robert Mills has finally read his 3,000 mentions on Twitter. Fans have been calling for a release of former seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to watch during quarantine – after all, we still don’t know when Clare Crawley’s season plans to resume filming.
Hosted by none other than Chris Harrison (obviously), ABC is releasing a historical recap series this summer that will take us on a wild trip down The Mansion driveway memory lane.
Per an exclusive with Variety, premiering June 8th, The Bachelor: The Most Unforgettable – Ever!, a 10-episode series will “revisit some of the most iconic seasons from the franchise’s 18-year history.”
"‘The Bachelor: The Most Unforgettable – Ever!’ is a love letter to our fans who have been with us through some of the most heartwarming, heartbreaking and unexpected moments throughout Bachelor history."
Each episode will be three-hours-long (sigh) and will cover a full season every episode. That’s certainly a courageous feat. You can expect scenes from the most dramatic rose ceremonies ever, “passionate proposals,” meltdowns, breakups, and romance galore. Essentially, the best part of the episodes, minus the filler scenes and bland one-on-one dates from episode two that no one remembers. It’s a yes from me.
“We really wanted to give Bachelor Nation something to watch, and immediately, there was this clamoring and desire from our fans to watch old seasons,” Harrison divulged to Variety.
It becomes more and more convenient by the day that Chris lives in the Mansion pool house (aka a five-minute drive from his home), as he’ll be hosting these recap episodes from the spot in the driveway he likely holds an equity stake in at this point.
The franchise was quick to address the social distancing component, noting that Harrison will be joined, from afar, by a “skeleton crew.” In addition, if you’ve seen Harrison frequently host Instagram lives with his girlfriend, ET correspondent Lauren Zima, expect these to continue. Harrison plans to lead virtual “catch-ups” with fan-favorites after each episode – here’s hoping Rachel’s season is included so I can see Peter Kraus in one of these lives.
To address the first question on your minds, yes, season 18 of The Bachelor, starring none other than all-time fan-favorite Juan Pablo Galavais, will be included in the programming. Accordingly, expect to see Clare Crawley, our next Bachelorette, on Harrison’s video chat thereafter.
Not only is this a brilliant move to get new viewers invested in Crawley (or learn who she is, really), as well as longtime fans who may need a refresher, but we’ll get a true trip down The Bachelor memory lane for what seems like the first time ever. Sources further disclosed to Variety that the following seasons are top contenders:
The Bachelorette Season 1 – Trista Sutter
The Bachelorette Season 13 – Kaitlyn Bristowe
The Bachelor Season 17 – Sean Lowe
The Bachelor Season 20 – Ben Higgins
And to answer your biggest fear, no, Peter Weber’s season will not be included. Personally, Sean Lowe and Ben Higgins’ seasons are top of the list for me, and I’d certainly throw out Ben Flajnik and Chris Soules’ respective seasons for entertainment sake. It would feel wrong for them to leave out Trista Sutter’s OG season, so that should be a given.
Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season was top-level entertainment as well. Ali Fedotwosky’s season brought us worldwide singer, Kasey Kahl, and elite escape artist, Justin “Rated-R” Rego, so that should be a top contender. Ashley Herbert and Rachel Lindsay are certainly seasons I would like to see in this series.
All in all, this is an A+ move by ABC. We were supposed to get The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and Summer Games, and instead, we got Listen To Your Heart – with an indefinite void in programming thereafter. This won’t take much effort or difficulties and will give us a great series of nostalgia and brings the newer viewers brought in around Colton’s season up to speed.
Don’t worry, we’ll be here to recap these top moments and scoop from the video chats along the way. We’re just as bored as you all. In summary, Twitter badgering indeed can pay off! See you on memory lane this summer!
