With such an array of talented singers on our screen, what if the audience had a choice in which songs the cast of Listen to Your Heart performed each week?

So far we’ve heard the contestants on Listen to Your Heart perform some lovely musical numbers, from John Mayer’s “Gravity” to Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush.” However, I for one would love to see them take on songs with themes, especially ones that are closer to what the show is really about.

Not to mention, songs that speak to the Bachelor Nation franchise as a whole. So, this is my wish list of five songs that I believe would speak to the heart of Listen to Your Heart!

What songs would you choose? Don’t be shy–share them in the comments below!

“Falling Slowly”- Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova

Though the title “Falling Slowly” might not match up to the lightning-fast pace Listen to Your Heart contestants are expected to fall for each other, the song’s lyrics do speak to the contestant experience: “I don’t know you, but I want you all the more for that.”

The song has universal appeal, is already written as a duet, and, most importantly, it’s about two struggling musicians falling in love through their devotion to their art!

Need I say more? Just look at this chemistry!

“We Found Love”- Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris

This might be just me having fun at the expense of the franchise, but it does often seem a Bachelor show is a rather “hopeless place” to find love. If the Listen to Your Heart contestants have found love there, why not show it off?

This song has a catchy feature melody and emotional lyrics. It could be slowed down, performed acoustically, or kept at its original tempo to inject some fast-paced levity into the show’s music selection.

“Love and Affection”- Matt White

It would be great to hear the contestants do a song that honors the history of the Bachelor franchise. This song was featured in season nine of The Bachelorette as a musical accompaniment to Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried’s love story.

Matt White later performed it at their wedding! How cute is that?!

This choice would reward longtime fans and anchor Listen to Your Heart more closely to the franchise as a whole. It would also be wonderful if the show got Des and Chris to be judges for this performance!

“Faithfully”- Journey

These folks are no strangers to the challenging life of a singer on the road. This song’s lyrics speak to the trials, and ultimate triumph, of a musician trying to maintain a romantic relationship while touring: “Loving a music man ain’t always what it’s supposed to be. Oh, girl, you stand by me.” Can’t you just imagine Sheridan singing this?

It also features some incredible vocals- who wouldn’t want to hear one of the singers take on Steve Perry’s high notes at the end?

“Song for Whoever”- The Beautiful South

Few songs match the theme of Listen to Your Heart as perfectly as this one does. “Song for Whoever” opens with a shoutout to songwriters falling in love: “I love you from the bottom of my pencil case, I love you in the songs I write and sing.”

The song is also blatantly honest about the many benefits that come from success in the recording industry: “I love the PRS cheques that you bring.” Musically, the song has some beautiful harmonies and we already know we have some talented piano players on the show who could tackle the instrumentals.

As fun as it is to watch the contestants sing to each other, their songs are not just for each other— they’re for everyone, as acknowledged with the lyrics, “Oh Shirley, Oh Deborah, oh Julie, oh Jane, I wrote so many songs about you.”

I’m sure every fangirl wants to feel like the contestants are singing just for her!
