The Barb-undrum

Ah, yes, Barb. Quite possibly the star of The Bachelor season 24. Honestly, if the entire season was about her, I think it would have been a more entertaining watch than what we ended up with. However, her reactions and facial expressions during “After the Final Rose” were a bit extra, but I’m going to go ahead and blame the production for that one.

During the live special, mama Barb did not hold back when it came to expressing how she felt about Madison. She was Team Hannah Ann through and through, and every time Madison was brought up in any form, Barb couldn’t hold back her disgust.

Madison has many regrets about that night, and told Bristowe she wishes she would have handled it differently. The biggest qualm Barb had with Madison was that she kept the family waiting for hours when they came to Australia.

"I wish that I would have just apologized and been apologetic in that moment. I think I was so taken back and I was so hurt by the things that were being said to me in this time that was so beautiful for me and Peter. We had overcome so much to be there. We’re trying to fight so hard — we don’t know if it was going to work — but we’re trying so hard to figure out if it can. For that opportunity to kind of be taken from the both of us… for that to be the ending of the season, I mean I walked off that stage and I had never cried harder in my life."

Whether you’re team Madison or not, watching “After the Final Rose” was brutal, awkward, and uncomfortable, and we weren’t even in the room. It looks like Madison is very apologetic for the whole ordeal that led Barb to resist her so much, and understands why the family was so concerned about her and Peter’s relationship.

"They saw how different we were. I was never trying to be disrespectful, honest in exactly where I was at and how I was feeling."

And as for making them wait an obscenely long time, Madison confesses she was concerned about her and Peter’s future in that moment. Nothing else mattered, and she didn’t think past that point. That’s fair enough, but boy did it cause a ruckus.
