The Bachelor: Listen To Your Heart: Season 1, episode 1 performance grades
Trevor, “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room”
Vocal Performance: B-
Did anyone else have Vine? If so, did anyone else painfully remember Trevor the second he started singing? My brain when Trevor appeared: wow, he’s that guy from Vine who sang 4-second covers with uncomfortable sex eyes glaring through the screen. The more you know.
Anyways, I’ll disclaim that it’s hard for me to judge him on Listen to Your Heart neutrally through that lens. And I’ll fairly concede that Ryan and Jamie had a whole production studio and ~Special Microphones~ delivered by the Prewetts. But Trevor is just too breathy for my liking, and it irritates me when singers don’t finish the note they’re singing – I get that it’s supposed to be sexy or something, but it just ain’t it for me. With that, here’s a minute-long example of Trevor’s perv eyes in song:
Interpretive Routine: N/A
I can’t really judge him on this accolade, as he didn’t really do anything. To be fair, he was performing with his guitar (while sporting Jed’s failed Sherpa-Chic line), and was sitting the entire time, so there wasn’t much room for movement there.
~Romance~ Level: A+
Thanks, I hate it, but I have to give it to Trevor here, as his efforts clearly paid off. You can’t convince me that this second John Mayer rendition wasn’t deliberate, and basically pitted the two wannabe Johnnys against one another.
I truly can’t relate to Jamie’s life decisions at this point, but Trevor clearly won out this category, as he secured the coveted rose at the end of the night. Thankfully, my new BFF Rudi kept my preferred choice around for another week. Time will tell which pretty boy is the questionable song inside of Jamie’s heart.
Overall Grade: A-
Well, there you have it, Bachelor Nation! Ryan won out, and all is right in my world. Tune into next week to see what courageous, difficult genre these contestants brave next on Listen to Your Heart.
