Colton Underwood bares it all in his upcoming memoir, The First Time.

Colton Underwood’s memoir, The First Time, is officially available, folks (get it on Amazon now)! I think it’s quite intriguing that he’s written about his experiences as the Bachelor and even more so about his relationship with girlfriend Cassie Randolph.

Speaking of which, Underwood opened up a great deal about him and Cassie in the memoir. Most may not know this but Cassie and Colton broke up briefly last year in August. Right?! I was just as surprised to learn of this. Good on them for managing to keep it a secret–it’s not easy to do that these days.

Colton Underwood went through quite a journey during his time as the Bachelor and instantly became known as the virgin lead. It was his claim to fame during the season, and just in case you didn’t notice, the title of his memoir is a nod to exactly that–The First Time. Get it?

In an exclusive with PEOPLE, Underwood opened up about the short-lived break-up and what led them to part ways temporarily.

"To put it very frank, after the show, we realized we weren’t communicating as well as we once did. Nobody was forcing us to talk about real things going on, so we let a lot of things build up. […] It was a very real and very emotional breakup. But it was also very good to be real and emotional because it forced us to have conversations and move on. Now, we know the flags to look for. When issues start to creep up, it’s like, let’s go have a conversation. We’re trying to be more transparent and honest and really trust each other."

This is one of the biggest reasons why I’m looking forward to reading Colton Underwood’s memoir. From the outside, no one would have known that Cassie and Colton broke up. They look extremely happy whenever on social media, and it often makes people think everything is “perfect”.

The reality is that the people that go on Bachelor Nation shows are just like us, and they too will face relationship problems, especially once they’re out of that bubble. I appreciate that Colton is being candid about it because it helps us relate to them a little bit more and helps people understand that they’re just like us.

And for those of you who are wondering whether or not Underwood is planning on getting engaged to Randolph anytime soon–it looks it may be in their near future.

"We talk and we plan and we have so much hope. If she were here, she’d nudge me for saying this, but I think an engagement is something we’d both like to see this year. No matter what, I don’t want my life without her. Our relationship hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it."

I’m here for a 2020 Underwood/Randolph engagement!
