The performance that inspired a show

We all remember Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s incredible performance at the 2019 Oscars as they sang “Shallow” from their movie, A Star Is Born. It was the type of performance that changes lives and gives us all the feels and makes us believe in love.

And guess what? It really did that have sort of impact because Listen to Your Heart was a direct result of it.

It is basically The Bachelor meets A Star Is Born. And thanks to creator Mike Fleiss we’re going to see what something like that would look like.

"Could we create that chemistry in love but also in music?"

That’s the premise of this series, and it’s something I think we can all use right now. A little bit of music and love, and anything that resembles that steamy performance that sparked a million rumors about Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

So, how exactly does it work?

I’ve been extremely curious as to how this show is going to work. I mean we know how its predecessors work, but when you mix in this element of music, how do you eliminate contestants?

Well, all the contestants er musicians will live together in the Bachelor Mansion with only one goal–find a partner that they can create beautiful music with. As if finding love isn’t complicated enough, they’re adding in another layer?!

All the dates and challenges will be music-related, in case you’re wondering.

ABC’s official description is as follows:

"The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart unites two of the most emotionally powerful forces in human life: music and love, as 20 single men and women embark on an incredible journey to find love through music. Singing well-known songs, both individually and as couples, they will look to form attractions through the melodies, find and reveal their feelings and ultimately, fall in love."

In an interview with Parade.com, host Chris Harrison shared that the show is more like one of the Bachelor Nation spin-offs than the one you might be thinking.

"It really is more of a ‘Bachelor in Paradise,’ the women giving roses to the men, and then some men going home, and the men giving roses and some of the women go home. And all the while, there is music in the background, and they’re trying to figure out who they could sing with, but it really is more about those types of rose ceremonies and it is a traditional rose ceremony that you would see in ‘Bachelor in Paradise.‘"

So it’s a musical Bachelor in Paradise? Okay, got it.

Oh, and a potential recording contract!

"The goal of this is a couple to find true love, but then also have this amazing duet that will earn this prize package that we put together. I won’t reveal everything that’s in this prize package. But it is to go out and perform, record music and to become a real duet, a professional singing duet."

Is it just me or is there a possibility that this could very wrong after the fact? Can you imagine the competition that could ensue between the couple? Yikes, I’m not sure about this! But let’s see what happens. I’ll try to be as optimistic as possible.
