Bachelor in Paradise contestant Katie Morton opened up about her struggles with narcolepsy on Instagram.

Bachelor in Paradise has not been easy for any of the contestants during the sixth season. We’ve had so many heartbreaks, unexpected moments, a whole lot of drama, and of course, some love along the way. Amongst the couples that have developed and made it all the way to the finale are Katie Morton and Chris Bukowski.

They’ve also hit some roadblocks along the way, but it seems like they’re trying to work on it. Whether or not they’ll leave the beach engaged, we’ll have to wait and find out during the season 6 finale next week. But while we wait for all of that to unfold, let’s take a moment to talk about something Morton revealed on her Instagram this week.

On her IG story, a follower asked her about dealing with narcolepsy and what that was like while filming Bachelor in Paradise. Morton responded with a heartfelt, honest response explaining the physical and emotional struggles that go with it.

"It is/isn’t. I sometimes say WHY THE HECK am I so emotional? Or WHY am I so tired? Then I’m thinking… duh Katie, you are narcoleptic stop forgetting. But as a narcoleptic you know that you have brain fog and you’ll keep forgetting. It’s a cycle."

As a result of this condition, Morton has to keep a watchful eye over what she eats that may induce more fatigue. This also means she has to miss out on events like the Stagecoach Festival, which may not have been the worst thing in the world this year. And given the drama that unfolded there, she’s not feeling as much FOMO as she would usually–and we don’t blame her.

For those of you who aren’t well-versed or understand what narcolepsy is, it’s a condition that causes one to fall asleep more often than usual. It’s like the overpowering need to fall asleep right then and there and can happen at odd times during the day.

Considering Morton was on Paradise for a month or so, we can only imagine the difficulties that may have arisen. Drama and finding love can be exhausting for anyone, and Katie powered through that and more! Kudos to our girl for being strong and setting an example for all.
