On this week’s first Bachelor in Paradise episode, many relationships grew stronger while others fell apart resulting in two people going home unexpectedly.

Bachelor in Paradise kicked off this week’s episode with Dean’s return. He came back to Paradise to ask Caelynn if she would leave with him right then and there. Caelynn was conflicted and wanted to discuss the situation with Connor. After a lot of consideration, Caelynn decided to leave paradise with Dean.

That didn’t bode well for Connor, who had started falling for Caelynn, and felt she was reciprocating those feelings back. But there’s something undeniable about Dean that Caelynn let go of. With that thought, Dean and Caelynn left the beach to live out their happily ever after in the real world.

After this surprising departure, a date card arrived for Chris. He decided to take Katie, but Katie seemed confused by where they were at in their relationship. After their date and sorting their feelings, they both felt very strong in their relationship.

Throughout the episode, Demi was jealous of seeing Kristian flirting with other women. She received a date card to take out her girlfriend while she was very irritated. They had a very spiritual date, and Kristian could tell something was on Demi’s mind. Demi expressed how much she disliked PDA and how she still wasn’t comfortable with others seeing her as gay in public. Kristian comforted her, but the pair seemed like they may have been at a crossroads.

Meanwhile, John Paul Jones decided to throw a prom for Tayshia since she didn’t get to go to her high school prom. Their prom was complete with the infamous punch, prom king and queen crowns, and a saxophone player. JPJ showered Tayshia with compliments, and they had an absolute blast dancing on the beach.

In the spirit of romantic gestures, Blake wanted to show Kristina how much he cared for her with his very own date card creation. They had a date in the treehouse. Kristina admitted she couldn’t “get there” with Blake. Shortly after, both Kristina and Blake decided to leave Paradise.

The end credits showed a weird conversation between Matt and Demi. Demi asked Matt what he did for a living. He explained that he sold placenta and umbilical cords for stem cell research. Their conversation caused a bit of an uproar on Twitter.
