Bachelor in Paradise: Matt Donald and that first kiss struggle

Matt Donald reminded us the trials and tribulations of having your first kiss during last night’s Bachelor in Paradise.

Bachelor in Paradise or any Bachelor Nation show usually involves a lot of kissing. And as a contestant, I would assume one would be aware of the situations that could potentially arise as a result of being on the show. The memo, apparently, was lost on Matt Donald from Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette.

Donald joined Paradise this week and connected with Sydney Lotuaco, but things were chugging along slow. And I mean slooooooooow. Donald was hesitating left and right to engage in any sort of potentially misconstrued behavior and kept bringing up what his mom would think of him. Yah, talk about awkward.

Now, I don’t want to bash on the fact that he was trying to be a gentleman and being respectful. But it became comedic after the point Sydney was all but telling him it’s okay to make a move but he still wouldn’t. In fact, he began sweating bullets over the notion of kissing her.

Of course, the entire beach was anticipating that Donald would make a move at some point and were hovering around in the distance keeping their watchful eye on him and Sydney when he pulled her away. After some insisting and assuring from Sydney once again, Matt FINALLY went in for the kiss. The montage that followed was quite possibly the most entertaining thing we’ve seen on Bachelor in Paradise this season.

Of course, Bachelor Nation was really stumped when later Matt went on a date with new arrival Bri Barnes and had no issues kissing her. Did he have a confidence boost from the kiss with Sydney or is he just into Bri more? Not sure, but after all that prior fuss, it was quite hilarious he didn’t even hesitate the second time around.

Yah, we’re not sure how that happened either, but hey, at least Matt Donald popped his Bachelor in Paradise kissing cherry.
