Major Bachelor in Paradise spoilers ahead–and trust us when we say, you don’t want this ruined for you.
Bachelor in Paradise is not done breaking our hearts just yet. Every time I think we may be reaching a calmer, less dramatic episode, things take a turn for the worst. Such is the sentiment from last night’s episode which resulted in something I didn’t want to accept was coming.
But before I get into those details, I’d like to put yet another disclaimer to anyone reading this right now. If you have not seen the latest episode of Bachelor in Paradise, I advise you to stop reading this instant. We’ll be talking about something major that happened last night, and I’d hate for it to be ruined for you.
Okay, now that we got the spoiler disclaimer out of the way, let’s talk about what happened.
By now, you’ve heard plenty about Derek Peth’s journey to finding love. He hasn’t made success in the past, and Paradise isn’t being too nice to him either. He thought Demi may be the one, but she broke up with him for Kristian. Then, for a moment, it seemed like things were going well with Tayshia. But as we learned last night, that went sideways too.
After all this defeat and heartbreak, Derek decides Paradise isn’t the right place for him to be anymore. In an unexpected twist, Derek decides to go home and leave Bachelor in Paradise behind. I feel so incredibly bad for the guy because he seems like such a gem, and genuine. I’m not sure what John Paul Jones’ interaction with him off-camera has been, but what we’ve seen has been golden.
He’s always so patient and understanding with the women in his life, which is why when Tayshia breaks it off, the look on his face stabs us right in the heart.
"I always thought I would have found somebody by now. What I worry about now, as time moves on, is that I’m never gonna find that person."
Ah, Derek, you’re killing us.
Bachelor in Paradise may not have been the right place for Derek. But I have a sneaking suspicion that there are plenty of women out there right now that would love to be the one for him. He’s managed to capture our hearts with his looks, personality, and empathy, so it’s only a matter of time before someone realizes it.
I’m calling it now. By next year, Derek Peth will be married.
