Bachelor in Paradise: What the heck is going on with John Paul Jones?
By Ariba Bhuvad
After seeing John Paul Jones’ meltdown on Bachelor in Paradise, we are all wondering–what the heck happened?
Bachelor in Paradise along with The Bachelorette has always shown a calm, relaxed side of fan-favorite John Paul Jones. But something happened in the most recent episode of Paradise that makes us question where his state of mind is at.
To bring everyone up to speed, John Paul Jones began pursuing Tayshia Adams, and they seemed to be hitting it off pretty well. However, this week’s episodes showed Tayshia second-guessing if she actually would consider JPJ as a lifelong partner. And the more time that went by, the answer was amounting to a resounding no.
Instead, her sights were set on Derek Peth, who was recently dumped by Demi Burnett after she decided to pursue her girlfriend, Kristian Haggerty. I know, this is all rather confusing but I think that just about sums it up.
In the second part of this week’s Bachelor in Paradise episodes, everyone on Paradise was invited to Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson’s wedding. During the event, JPJ got extremely flustered and approached Derek Peth out of fury and anger.
This is not the type of behavior I would have ever expected from JPJ because he’s just never behaved that way in all the time we’ve seen him. It’s completely out of left field, and I think all of Bachelor Nation was left extremely confused as to what elicited such a strong reaction out of him.
And just when I thought it was just a heat of the moment type of situation, he continued to argue with Peth back on the beach. If anyone can explain what was going on through JPJ’s head, then I would love an explanation.
I do believe that he formed an attachment to Tayshia, and it was unlike anything else he’s experienced before. Perhaps that’s why he’s so keen on keeping her around. It is curious that while he’s getting in Peth’s face about Tayshia, JPJ never once thought to ask Tayshia how she feels. Doesn’t he realize that she’s not that into him? I think a conversation needs to happen here, and it needs to happen soon.
