It was anything but paradise for Bachelor in Paradise contestant Derek Peth who was confronted by John Paul Jones this week.

Bachelor in Paradise viewers were confused AF this week seeing John Paul Jones self-combust over Derek Peth pursuing Tayshia Adams. It was a very weird reaction because it’s a side of JPJ we’ve never really seen before.

He’s usually so calm and collect, and just immersed in his chill vibes. But something about Tayshia has the guy in a frenzy, and it became clear during this week’s second episode that he was ready to let Derek feel the wrath of his anger. Unfortunately, it all went down during Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone’s wedding, and Bachelor Nation was not happy about it.

We all heard JPJ’s side of things during the episode, but now Peth is speaking out, and he has some things to say. As many Bachelor Nation alums do, Peth has a podcast (which many of us found out about from JPJ this week), and it’s called The Betchelor. While speaking during one of his episodes this week, Peth responded to JPJ’s accusations.

"Even just to say something like, ‘You take advantage of women,’ that is super messed up."

Peth couldn’t really say much while JPJ was in face accusing him of bragging about his podcast and sexual conquests he gets as a result. It seemed completely out of character to see JPJ behave this way, and considering Bachelor in Paradise has never shown a scene with Peth talking about his podcast, it’s curious to hear JPJ’s side of things.

"I have been in this [Bachelor] world for three years. This would’ve come out if there were any facts about what he said. Sorry podcast listeners, I’ve never slept with a podcast listener."

And he does have a point. Bachelor Nation is quick to find out the truth and if Peth truly was a scumbag, I don’t think it would have gone hidden for so long. Personally, I think JPJ is just feeling rejected over Tayshia which is why he’s lost complete control of his emotions.

He knew better than to have that argument at a wedding, and he knew better than to continue getting in Derek’s face over this without talking it out like gentlemen. Hopefully, this drama will be over as we head into the next couple of Bachelor in Paradise episodes, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
