The Bachelorette: Luke Parker addresses the waves of online hate

THE BACHELORETTE - "1503" - Eight men get the surprise of their life as husband and wife actors Jason Biggs ("American Pie" movies, "Orange Is the New Black") and Jenny Mollen (TV series "Angel" and "Crash") take them to a birthing class with hilarious results. Which one of Hannah's suitors will endure the experience of simulating childbirth? The Bachelorette gets a real-life health scare and one bachelor comes to her rescue. In return, she rewards him with a private concert by Danish pop and soul band Lukas Graham, performing their hit, "Love Someone." Hannah brings another group of men on a professional photo shoot where they are shocked to find that they are posing with professional models-who are adorable animals. The curious Bachelorette once again employs Demi to share with her what the men do when she is not around, reminiscent of the new Illumination Entertainment film from the creators of "Despicable Me," "The Secret Life of Pets 2." Will the guys pass Demi's test? And later, will one man spin out of control and out of Hannah's life? The men battle to get a rose, whatever it takes, on "The Bachelorette," MONDAY, MAY 27 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/John Fleenor)LUKE P., HANNAH BROWN

Spoiler alert: this post recaps events from The Bachelorette week 3 and provides commentary from Luke Parker. Read on at your own discretion!

It takes a lot to surprise fans of The Bachelorette. It sometimes feels like we’ve seen it all. Each season, a new villain emerges and they do or say something that is absolutely nuts. This year, Hannah Brown’s season has felt a bit like a handful between Cam Ayala’s pleas for pity and Luke Parker’s over-the-top displays of so-called affection.

Last episode, Cam left the mansion, which leaves Luke P. all alone in his tyranny. Now, though, the Georgia-raised contestant is addressing his on-screen behavior and we’re—what is this feeling??—actually a little surprised.

In a recent Instagram post, Luke acknowledges that he hasn’t exactly come off smelling like roses after his turn on The Bachelorette. He expresses a desire to learn from his mistakes and to continue moving forward. He also thanks his fans, encouraging the masses to grow from his mistakes with him.

So what’s the takeaway here? You can definitely still color us a bit skeptical, but the gesture does not go unnoticed. It takes a big man to admit when they’ve done wrong and to actually say that they want to change. We hope that Luke P. really has noticed that his actions were disturbing the fan base and that he probably needs to change how he handles relationships with both women and fellow men.

All that being said, we did notice that this was NOT an apology post. Luke Parker didn’t say he was sorry for being a jerk. He didn’t even say that his time on The Bachelorette was a misrepresentation. It seems worth noting that he specifically pointed out that some of his time at the mansion may not even be depicted on screen, giving us what he would feel is a full accounting of his journey on the show. He writes, “Regardless of what is aired AND IF and I are together or not my behavior in all situations has been and will continue to be exposed.”

So what can we expect from Luke P. in the future? We’re interested in learning more. Next week’s sneak peek video looks like yet another unflattering representation of the famed contestant. What do you think, Bachelor Nation? Has he changed?
