4. Cam wears his rose

The first night of The Bachelorette or The Bachelor is one big power struggle. We see the same stuff every year: men arrive at the mansion and then nervously size each other up and compare. They try to out-macho one another or subtly take each other down during coveted one-on-one time with the Bachelorette.

This year we saw all the same power struggles, but there was an added interesting dynamic. Cam Ayala, who first met Hannah on After the Final Rose, arrived to the season premiere with his first impression rose pinned to his lapel.

This rose might as well have been a massive red flag to the other men. They all knew he had a leg up on the competition and it definitely made a few of the guys nervous. It was fun to watch them squirm a little as Cam confidently walked into the mansion. Way to up the stakes this year, ABC!

Here’s my question: did Cam choose on his own to don the rose or was that prompted by the producers of The Bachelorette? If he chose to wear it on his own accord, then that was a totally intentional power move. It would mean that Cam is here to shake things up and make the other men uneasy. Well played, sir.
