The Bachelorette premiere: Ranking the top 3 questionable contestants
2. John Paul Jones
What kind of list would this be if we didn’t include John Paul Jones? He was easily the most memorable character we met during the Bachelorette premier. He’s going to get a lot of attention, be it good or bad.
You’ll remember him because of his name alone. John Paul Jones insists on being called John Paul Jones in full, which was actually the first thing he said to Hannah during the premiere. That’s right, of all the first impressions, he chose to emphasize that she better get his mother lovin’ name right. Maybe he’s harmless and goofy, but the move felt a little vain and forceful. At least it was memorable?
According to Chris Harrison, John Paul Jones will continue to insist on being called John Paul Jones throughout the rest of his time on the season. Here’s hoping he’s got a funny personality or that this turns out to be part of an elaborate joke, because right now this was a pretty big turn off.
We’re definitely not the only folks who feel that way either: there were more than a few Tweets last night from fans who were furious when JPJ lived to survive another rose ceremony when early fan favorite contestant (and this season’s Grocery Store Joe) Matt D. got the ax.
