Why is The Bachelorette reunion special short two Bachelorettes? Beloved longtime host Chris Harrison provides some answers.

No, your eyes do not deceive you. If you’ve been following along with all the of the hype leading up to The Bachelorette reunion special this Monday, you’ve probably noticed that we were a few leading ladies shy of the whole bunch.

Only twelve of the fourteen Bachelorettes were able to make it to the reunion taping. Ever since fans first noticed that Meredith Phillips (season 2) and Jen Schefft (season 3) were absent from promotional pictures and announcements, there has been speculation about what prevented them from making it out to the mansion.

In a brief interview with ET Online, longtime host of The Bachelorette Chris Harrison set the record straight. There was no bad blood, rather, Meredith and Jen couldn’t film the special simply due to personal prior commitments.

"So, we just picked a day where we could get as many as we possibly could, but unfortunately schedules, vacations, was one of them, just couldn’t be changed. And we just had to pull the trigger and do this thing."

Totally understandable. Filming a reunion special for The Bachelorette is a massive undertaking on its own, let alone when you consider how many women’s schedules producers would have had to coordinate with.

Thankfully, Chris went on to promise that Meredith and Jen were not ignored. They were still very must a part of the reunion, even if they couldn’t be there in person.

"Jen and Meredith are represented, they’re celebrated in this thing, we love them very much and they’re a part of our family and this sisterhood, but they just couldn’t join us."

If The Bachelorette continues airing for another 5 years, then who knows? Perhaps we’ll get another reunion special. ABC always does love to find away to throw another Bachelor-themed episode into the mix and this would be an easy way for that to happen. Meredith and Jen might just find that they can make it next time.
