Breakups on The Bachelor can be hard to watch. We all know they’re coming; with at least 30 contestants in every recent season, you know that each week is going to turn into a drama-fest fast. Heck, it’s part of what we love about the series! Still, some tug at our heartstrings more than others. And recent contestant Hannah Godwin certainly seems to fit into this category.

Hannah was on last season, competing for the heart of Colton Underwood. After he decided early that competitor Cassie Randolph was the girl for him, he sent Hannah and fellow contestant Tayshia home completely blindsided.

What happens after the cameras stop rolling and the ladies return home? We’ve been curious and, as it turns out, so is everyone else. Recently, Hannah Godwin sat down with Cosmopolitan to talk about her family’s reaction to the bad news, as well as how she moved forward with life post-Bachelor.

Hannah’s first comments were on her parents, who had witnessed the strength of her relationship with Colton when she took him home during Hometown Week.

"Basically, they assured me that at least I wasn’t crazy. They said, from talking to him and me, it looked like we were both really into each other, that we definitely had vibes going on, and they all saw it too. It wasn’t just me. They said it felt real to them too, and they trusted me."

Um, love that. It would probably be easy for some parents to say after the fact that they didn’t really see a connection between their daughter and the Bachelor. To acknowledge that Hannah’s feelings were real and so were Colton’s is to prove that she didn’t waste her time and that she didn’t mentally build things up to be more than they were. Her parents have validated her experience, which should ultimately help in the healing process.

Hannah went on to comment on how she prepared for that gut-wrenching finale, where she got to sit down with Colton personally and ask him all of her post-relationship questions.

"I ended up feeling calm. I was like, there’s absolutely zero way that I’m walking off this stage without getting these answers that I want. If that means asking a few challenging questions, then that’s that."

This also feels like another really healthy approach. We really hope that Hannah Godwin ends up in Paradise this summer, because clearly this girl is emotionally ready for the experience. She knows how to navigate a mature relationship.

And don’t worry about her state of mind heading to the beach. Unlike Colton himself, who famously strung along Tia Booth because he wasn’t over his previous relationship with Becca Kufrin, Hannah has commented that she has “zero hard feelings.” Ya girl is ready to find her love story!
