Ah, what could have been! The Bachelor alum Vanessa Grimaldi opens up about how she almost had a role on the upcoming reboot of The Hills.

In case you haven’t heard, we’re getting a reboot of The Hills! Reboot fever has seriously swept the nation and this popular reality series about a group of friends living in Los Angeles is simply the latest project of many to be given the greenlight. Fans of The Bachelor may be disappointed to hear that one of the show’s former stars *almost* got the chance to appear on The Hills, but things ultimately didn’t work out. Vanessa Grimaldi of Nick Viall’s season recently opened up to Pratt Cast about the opportunity that was extended to her.

"I get a message from someone saying, ‘Hey’ and to give them a call for a new — well, I don’t even think they used the word ‘new’ — but for a reality TV show that they would be interested in me being a part of the cast. My curiosity piqued."

Vanessa Grimaldi would have been far from the first star from The Bachelor or one of its many spin-offs to appear on another reality show. The list is long, to include famous faces like Chad Johnson (The Bachelorette season 12) or Cassie Randolph (The Bachelor season 23).

Since so many cast members on The Bachelor have to quit their jobs to appear on the show (or risk ruining their reputations over drunken antics or on-screen drama), reality TV has become a pretty lucrative way for many competitors to turn a career. It’s not like there’s any firm data our there on what the Bachelor alums are up to, but reality show appearances feel like they’re second in success only to becoming a social media influencer.

So why didn’t Vanessa end up on The Hills? Her theory revolves mostly around her not actively living in LA, as well as her general lack of interest once the role was described to her. She especially wasn’t interested in being branded the “single” cast member. While she’s in a steady relationship now, she wasn’t at the time that the show contacted her.
