Former Bachelor Ben Higgins is jumping in to the Cassie/Colton drama feet first. Here’s why he thinks that Cassie was in the wrong last week.

Let’s be real: there are a lot of voices weighing in on the Cassie/Colton drama right now. Bachelor Nation is going crazy, all the talk shows are commenting on the matter, and alums from The Bachelor are giving their opinions left and right. Mostly we can filter out the drivel, but if there’s one opinion we’ll always trust, it’s that of former Bach Ben Higgins.

Ben Higgins is the darling of the Bachelor universe. He’s still a fan favorite, years after his own season ended. Apparently he’s willing to risk that status now by taking a side in the drama.

Ben recently had the chance to chat with Entertainment Tonight, where he commented that he firmly believed that Cassie knew what she really wanted, despite the tears and back-and-forth during Week 9. “It felt like she was kind of dancing around the subject,” he noted.

Instead of dragging things out and acting wishy-washy, Ben suggests that Cassie should have taken a more direct approach. “I don’t think she gave him the right explanation. She should have just left and said, ‘This isn’t going to work.’”

Like many of us, Ben also feels that it wouldn’t be fair of Colton to continue to pursue remaining contestants Hannah G. and Tayshia.

Yes, yes, yes, Ben Higgins! As usual, this former Bachelor seems to understand exactly how things really are. I love that he doesn’t come after Cassie just to condemn her, rather, he suggests that maybe she went about things the wrong way.

Furthermore, it seems likely that he’s right in his assessment of her feelings. Many fans took to Twitter during the episode to make jokes about how Cassie was simply desperate to find a way to end things and still somehow become the Bachelorette. Whether that was or wasn’t her endgame doesn’t matter here; instead, that “deer caught in headlights” look seems to reflect exactly Ben’s assessment that she simply didn’t want to be with Colton, whatever the motivation.

What do you think, Bachelor Nation? Was Ben Higgins right about Cassie? Let us know what you think in the comments!
