Colton Underwood talks about that empty Neil Lane box
Colton Underwood has the ring box, but does he have the ring? The Bachelor is finally addressing why that famous Neil Lane box was empty.
It didn’t exactly take the sharpest fan of The Bachelor to notice that while Colton Underwood was holding that signature Neil Lane ring box in the series promos, it was actually empty. What could this mean? Twitter was absolutely on fire with fan theories for a while about whether or not Colton would end the season engaged.
Now, after what has felt like an eternity, the Bachelor is finally commenting on why that box was empty. He spoke with ET’s Lauren Zima at the taping of Women Tell All, where he addressed the controversy head on.
“I’ll stick by my tweet: rings are meant to be on fingers, not in boxes,” Colton commented. “In that box, there’s been a ring in there.” He also explicitly stated that he did, indeed, personally meet with Neil Lane.
Unfortunately, just because there was a ring in the box this does not necessarily mean that the Bachelor is engaged. The series is notorious for having plenty of drama unfold after the taping of the final episode. Just ask Becca Kufrin, who was unceremoniously dumped by ex-fiance Arie Luyendyk quite a while after he slipped a ring on her finger.
The short list of possibilities for post-season Colton include everything from an initially successful but later broken engagement, a rejected proposal or even his own cold feet getting in the way. Thankfully, it is a comfort to at least know that Colton got serious enough with a contestant that he did ultimately look in to pursuing an engagement.
Throughout his season of The Bachelor, Colton has expressed his fear of laying his heart on the line and getting rejected. Is it possible that he could be facing exactly that at the end of this road? The fact that the box definitely had a ring in it at some point makes us feel super worried about Colton putting his heart on the line.
What are your thoughts, Bachelor Nation? Will Colton pick the right girl and get to keep her?
