God bless new Bachelor Colton Underwood, the man is built like a Greek god. We can probably thank his football days, which got him into super shape and ready for all of those physically exhausting group dates (I’m sorry, Bachelor’s Strongest Women? Yikes). ABC certainly seems to recognize his prowess. The Bachelor shows Colton shirtless and showering in nearly every episode of season 23.

Is it possible that—gasp— Colton ever had an awkward phase like us? The newly minted Bachelor recently took to Twitter to prove that he, too, had to overcome his terrible teenage years.

He retweeted this delightful pic. Apparently this was Colton in high school, looking primed and ready for some kind of special occasion. A school dance, perhaps? Check out the oversized white suit! The messy boyish haircut! The awkward shoulders!

Yes, even our virgin hunk had a rough year here and there. I think Colton Underwood could be labeled an honest to God “glow up.”

Really, though, this pic makes us love Colton even more. He’s a real person! He had to work hard to get into shape and looking good. He puts in effort to put forth his best face to the world and we really admire that.

It’s often easy to forget that the Bachelor or his contestants are real people. We kind of pigeon-hole them into these character types and forget that they have families, friends and pasts. Good old Colton is here to remind us that these are real people who are really looking for love.

Like the writer of the original tweet said, if he doesn’t wear this suit to the next rose ceremony we might riot. Can I get a throwback-themed group date, please? We’d love to see Colton rocking that classic blue and white once more.
