The Bachelor episode 4 reaction: International intrigue
Is this a war zone? Because bombs are dropping! Knowledge bombs, but still. The Bachelor’s first international dates were jam packed with tears & reveals.
This week’s episode of The Bachelor was full of ups and downs, literally and figuratively, and Colton took this show on the road with an international adventure to Singapore. A Bachelor first!
After the excitement screams subsided (and what appeared to be non-existent jet-lag wore off), the first one-on one date outside of the Bachelor mansion went to Tayshia, who I honestly forgot is a contestant on the show. The couple faced their fear of heights with a little bungee jumping, but Tayshia’s real leap of faith occurred at dinner when she revealed that she had previously been married. Ok, I will definitely remember her now.
The group date tonight was a herd indeed when thirteen ladies made their way through the streets of Singapore. Demi rode Colton piggyback, a fortune teller told Cassie she was Colton’s sister in another life, and everyone got their blood sucked by leeches.
No, really, there’s no innuendo or metaphor here.
They all just willingly let these gross creatures “remove toxins” from their bodies. And how do we follow up that? By eating pig’s feet, duh!
The group date cocktail party had Courtney a nervous wreck while Demi revealed to Colton that her mom had in fact been in jail. This sensitive, not trying to steal the spotlight side of Demi was a really nice change and it paid off when Colton gave her the rose.
Courtney proceeded to sob her frustrated eyes out which only reinforced my judgement call of her on episode one. Yes, she is and always has been an annoyance who needed to be kicked off immediately.
Caelynn went on the other one-on-one date which consisted of a glamorous shopping spree throughout the city where Colton’s wallet, or rather the producer’s wallet, supplied her with gowns and shoes in brightly colored bags which were promptly shoved in the other girl’s faces. No one was jealous at all, especially not Hannah B.
That evening Caelynn spoke candidly to Colton about being sexually assaulted when she was in college. Naturally fearful to discuss this traumatizing event, Caelynn bravely and gracefully explained everything to Colton, who responded in the best way by reassuring her that she is safe with him.
Major props to Caelynn for addressing this difficult topic and for bringing the reality of what is so often ignored to the forefront of not only their relationship, but to the attention of a national audience. I think all of Bachelor Nation is sending you love and hugs, girly!
The rose ceremony cocktail party once again had fireworks when the battle between Courtney and Demi that had merely been bubbling, boiled over into a yelling match. Demi dropped a casually beeped out f-bomb, y’all. She also called Courtney the cancer of the household, so the name calling was on point.
Hannah B and Caelynn sat down and talked it out about the fact that they would never be BFFs with matching friendship bracelets. Instead, they would push the past behind them and focus on their own individual relationships with Colton as opposed to their previous middle-school behind-the-back talking. Look at that progress!
In the end, rose already in-hand, cancer cutting Dr. Demi got her way and Courtney was sent packing which was not a loss to anyone. Demi’s other arch-enemy Old Lady Tracy was also flown out of Singapore with her terrible, how-is-she-really-a-stylist wardrobe. Victories all around, I’d say.
See you next week in Thailand!
