According to Chris Harrison, the casting for our next Bachelorette has been put on hold. What exactly is going on behind the scenes?

I get it: technically it is way too early for us to even be thinking about The Bachelorette. The show is still months and months away, we’re only 2 episodes into Colton’s seasons of The Bachelor and we really don’t even know this year’s contestants well enough to sort out the crazies from the normals.

Still, that hasn’t stopped us from speculating about who will be the next lucky lady to lead The Bachelorette. Contestants like Elyse (A 30+ aged Bachelorette? Bring it on!) to Katie (Another Bachelorette WoC? Heck yeah!) have quickly become fan favorites, but we don’t have too much to base our opinions on other than quick first impressions.

According to host Chris Harrison, apparently the behind-the-scenes folks at The Bachelor haven’t given it much thought either. According to an exclusive interview he did with ET Online, no one has even thrown around any contestant names yet. Harrison claims that this delay is due to the massive effort put in to the Bachelor premiere live viewing party. Apparently a party of that size took a lot of manpower to plan and The Bachelorette took a backseat as a result.

Our response? Come on, guys!

It’s pretty fair to say that almost no one liked the viewing party. Twitter was a virtual firestorm after episode one, with many longtime viewers complaining that this new gimmick was not the direction they’d like to see their favorite show heading.

Next. Are The Bachelor’s “cougars” being treated the right way?. dark

Basically, the viewing party wasted precious time that could have been spent planning out a season for a new Bachelorette. With Colton being as controversial of a choice as he is for leading man, it’s probably a safe guess that the franchise is going to need a knockout follow-up season to make up for past problems. Wouldn’t it have been a smarter idea to invest a tad more time in making things ideal for a new season of The Bachelorette?

Hopefully this isn’t a sign of things to come. Ditch the viewing parties, Bachelor, and give us what we really want!
