Colton Underwood opens up about his “greatest heartbreak”

Bachelor Colton Underwood recently opened up about his first great love, Aly Raisman. What does this relationship say about his romantic future?

They say that if you really want to get to know a guy, you should get to know his ex’s.

If that’s true, then we may already know a fair bit about new Bachelor Colton Underwood’s type. He famously dated Becca Kufrin on The Bachelorette and later couldn’t really commit to girlfriend Tia Booth on Bachelor in Paradise as a result of the fallout.

According to Colton, though, his “greatest heartbreak” wasn’t on a season of The Bachelor. On the podcast LadyGang, he recently opened up about how he still remembers bliss and then grief after his brief relationship with one Aly Raisman.

Aly is an Olympic gymnast. Colton famously asked her out via viral video in which he congratulated her on past accomplishments and teased that they should double date. She took him up on it and the two spent about half a year together from 2016 to 2017.

Although they ended on good terms, Colton was very candid on the podcast about how their time together affected him. She was his “first love” and he will always remember her.

So what does this significant relationship say for Colton’s future on the show? It would be easy to tease that he has a type; all of his famous ex’s have been slim brunettes. He’s already bucking that trend, though, giving out his first impression rose to blonde Hannah G. (who he definitely seems most physically attracted to) and handing out date roses to only blondes and redheads so far.

More than physical attractions, though, I’d say that Colton’s past with Aly proves that he’s looking for something serious. He’s truly on the show “for the right reasons.” He has proven that he can fall deeply in love without the physicality and that he’s looking for that once more. We really hope you find it, Colton.
