10. He’s a former football player

If you’re a Bachelor fan and didn’t already know that Colton Underwood is a former football player, you might have been living under a rock. This guy is all. About. The sport.

In college, Colton played football for Illinois State. Later, he spent some time playing for the San Diego Chargers as a free agent. He’s a former tight end. Unfortunately, his time playing came to an early end after he sustained an injury. Retirement hasn’t been too bad for him though; the guy is the new Bachelor, after all!

His love for the sport extends beyond merely playing. Colton was born on a Super Bowl Sunday (Jan. 26, 1992, in case you were wondering). His name also comes from the Indianapolis Colts! Talk about one family’s devotion to the game.

So what does all this love for football mean for season 23 of The Bachelor? One certainly has to wonder if he’ll prefer a girl who knows the game as well as he does. A few contestants have made it public that they’re football fans, like Alex D, who claims to love the Patriots. Will this be a conversation starter with Colton on the first night?
