It’s been awhile since we’ve heard about Bachelor star Charlie O’Connell. Although he dated his final pick for 5 years, it turns out she wasn’t “the one.”
If you’re a die-hard Bachelor fan, you’ll remember Charlie O’Connell’s season (2005). He didn’t propose to his final pick, Sarah Brice, but they did have an on-again-off-again relationship for five years.
The last time we saw Charlie on a Bachelor-related show, he was with Sarah at Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney’s televised wedding in 2010. He was with Sarah at the time, but their relationship ended for good shortly after that. Now Sarah is married with two children and Charlie, 42, is getting ready to tie the knot.
Charlie’s brother, actor Jerry O’Connell, tells People magazine that his brother is engaged to Playboy Playmate Anna Sophia Berglund, 31. A spring wedding is in the works for the couple and Jerry said he will be the best man and everyone is “super stoked.”
“It’s exciting! We’re going to do the wedding this spring. I’m the best man — we’re all super stoked. It’s great. She’s a beautiful girl, she’s so nice. I can’t wait for him to join the married club.”
For those who are wondering why Charlie’s relationship with Sarah didn’t work out after his season of The Bachelor ended, he puts some blame on the lack of privacy after the show.
He says he had a “great relationship” with Sarah, but it was “tough” because everyone knew who they were once the show aired, giving them little privacy.
And as to why he never proposed to Sarah during the final rose ceremony, Charlie says it “wasn’t realistic” — “We hadn’t even had our first fight yet!”
Cheers to Charlie and his bride to be!
