Nick Viall says he envies Bachelor couples who are still together

One month after Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi ended their engagement, the former Bachelor says “being single sucks.”

Nick Viall has been single for about a month and he has plenty to say about how he’s handling life after his breakup with Vanessa. The former Bachelor star was a guest on Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti’s Almost Famous podcast and he made it clear that being single “sucks.”

Viall made no mention of getting back together with Vanessa. However, he did say that he’s envious of other Bachelor franchise couples who are still together.

Nick talks about being single

Nick was a guest on Ben and Ashley’s September 27 podcast (listen below), aptly named, “Viall or Villain.” Ashley and Nick are friends, as evidenced by their Instagram stories, so she didn’t ask any questions like, “Did you take the Bachelor gig for fame, not love?” (That’s probably a question Danielle Lombard would ask him.)

But, Ben and Ashley did ask Nick how he was faring now that he’s single. Because he’s been riding solo more often than he’s been in a relationship. And even though he stated that being single “sucks,” he seems to be doing just fine.

“It’s never fun. Being single kinda sucks, but what can you do?” Nick told Ben and Ashley. “I’ve always been the internal optimist of pushing forward so I’m fine. What can you do?”

Then Nick started blabbering on about how great relationships are if they actually work out, something that he hasn’t quite mastered yet.

"“Obviously relationships can be great and lovely and amazing and if they don’t work out, you just kind of have to get through it … Two great things as I’ve gotten older that I’ve learned to try and appreciate in life is having perspective and understanding that all things are relative.”"

Speaking of getting older, Nick turns 37 today.

And he’s envious of the couples who made it in the Bachelor franchise — you can count them on two hands (maybe one, I’ll have to look that up). The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are better than finding a life partner on the Bachelor, Bachelorette, or Bachelor in Paradise. Kidding, but it sure seems that way.

"“I’ll always be incredibly envious for those who have been a part of this world and been able to have a successful relationship. I’m very envious of those people. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of them.”"

But Nick had better odds at finding “the one” than other leads and contestants. He was given four opportunities to find Mrs. Right and it didn’t work out for him. Maybe he was more focused on fame than finding love? We’re not sure but if he shows up on The Bachelor Winter Games in February, we’re going to go with “fame.”
