29. Chad Johnson

People aren’t really all that divided over Chad Johnson. His stint on Jojo’s season of The Bachelorette sealed his fate as one of the most infamous contestants, ever. Yes, he was cocky and confrontational, but he was also a bit of a drunk, and that always made things far worse.

Chad insulted pretty much everyone, including JoJo. He called her “naggy” and went on to feign disinterest in everything he had to do, pretending to be too cool for any of it. He ate cold cuts, straight out of the package with his bare hands and threatened physical violence to anyone who dared cross him.

Chris Harrison had to step in to warn him about his tendencies, but he didn’t back down. He promised to come find them and (probably) murder them in their sleep.

The folks at The Bachelorette won’t be deterred by contestants who seem a little unhinged, so Chad went on to star in Bachelor in Paradise. Once he hit those sandy beaches, any little bit of decorum he possessed promptly left him and he went on to soil his pants in a drunken blackout, verbally abuse Lace in the hot tub, and try to chest bump Chris Harrison.

He was a mess, and America loved to hate it. He never really backed down from his bad behavior or apologized for it, citing editing and booze and the main culprits.
