47. Contestants Plan Their Own Limo Exits, For The Most Part
As the seasons have worn on and on, the contestants have had to be more creative about getting their suitor’s attention. In fact, with the addition of the “first impression” rose, the stakes are incredibly high in that first night.
For the most part, it’s every man (or woman) for themselves, but the producers will offer a tiny bit of guidance. I would like to hope that nobody is advising women to wear shark suits or offer a cold hot dog, but you never know. Sometimes limo exits are simple and straightforward, but more often than not these days, the stunts are elaborate and awkward and are more about making good TV than making a good impression.
Producers will offer advice and counsel, which is probably not always in the best interest of the candidate, but they don’t usually tell them what to do, say or wear. Sean Lowe does reveal a little secret about exactly how they do interfere. He says in his tell all memoir that they definitely pick the order in which people come out of the limo. The first and last to come out of the limo are pretty significant since the first and last impressions are often the ones that linger.
Producers say that, “Traditionally, we try to pick two guys we think have the best shot ending up with our girl to be the first and last out of the limo.”
