3. Not Every Contestant Are There To Find True Love
This is not breaking news, especially since the show has grown into the pop culture juggernaut it is today. Here’s a shocker: not everybody comes on the show to find love. Some folks have ulterior motives like fame and notoriety. Whether they just want to get famous or use it for more opportunity, not everybody cares about making that connection.
This has come up time after time, as contestants and fans alike speculate who is there “for the right reasons.” Leslie Hughes admits that some of the other contestants on Sean Lowe’s season didn’t come to fall in love with him.
She maintains, “I don’t think everyone was attracted to Sean. I know a few had been in relationships and they broke up at the time of the show, so… there’s all kinds of motives.”
When pressed to say what these motives might be, she says, “To get in front of America.” said. She also remarks about the competitive structure of the show. She suggests some women hoped to parlay their on The Bachelor into a career. “But you can’t compete for love,” Hughes argued. “Either someone is into you or they’re not.”
Leslie isn’t totally jaded, thank goodness. She still believes in “the process” and thinks it could work if you want it to. We like to believe that too, since there are a handful of couples that defied the odds and are still together.
