6. The Roses At The Mansion Aren’t Real
I know, it’s a real blow. But all those beautiful rose bushes in the front of the mansion are completely fake. They’re installed during filming to make the limo exits seem more dramatic. Since “the rose” is a symbol of the show and it’s premise, it’s important that roses be plentiful and gorgeous.
Of all the secrets Courtney Robinson has divulged, this may have been the mildest. She quips, “The roses in front of the mansion are actually fake, but the ones they hand out at the rose ceremonies are real.” This is a bit of relief. It would be terribly disappointing if they were doling out plastic flowers to their potential future wives.
The ceremony roses are so real, in fact, there’s been a few mishaps along the way. During one of his ceremonies, Bob Guiney had a floral malfunction that threw him off his game. “I went to say the girl’s name, and the top of the rose fell off,” he recalls. “I was like, oh my God, what am I going to say? Will you accept this stem?”
Chris Harrison loves when awkward moments crop up. He thinks it makes it more interesting, and he’s totally right. He might be a bit of a sadist, however, confessing, “I relish, and maybe it’s because I’ve been a part of this so long, I really enjoy awkward moments.” Harrison said, “I mean, I love creating them, I like seeing how people react. I don’t mind it at all.”
