9. Producers Build The Elaborate Sets From Scratch For The Proposals
Once you’ve invested all those weeks watching the couple fall in love and build their relationship toward a proposal, you need a significant payoff. Any ol’ engagement moment won’t do. It has to be magical – a fantasy they ( and you, for that matter) will never forget.
But it’s not as easy as you might think. You can’t just happen upon a babbling brook, a cascading waterfall, or a picturesque bridge. The perfect spot has to be thoughtfully constructed to fit every romantic notion a soon-to-be bride can fathom.
It’s up to the producers to make this fantasy into a reality. They build the proposal locations from the ground up, often from scratch. You can’t find any of these locations on a map, because they exist exclusively in The Bachelor universe.
Sean Lowe remarks on this in his memoir. The producers made sure they knew the huge undertaking it would be while he was deciding whether or not to propose. “They planned a gorgeous setting, including a bridge and a pond they’d dug just for the occasion,” so it seems like there was a lot of pressure to propose.
In the case of Sean and his fiance, their love story matched their romantic proposal moment. All that elegance and beauty was the perfect beginning to their life together -they’re still married with a child.
