16. Those Interviews Are Sometimes Filmed Months Later

It would be completely impossible to follow the action of the story without all those in the moment interviews. You know the ones. They cut away from the action to hear the contestants or the bachelor/bachelorette talk about what they were thinking or feeling in that moment. It’s like having our very own little narrator.

But here’s the thing. Those interviews aren’t always filmed in the same moment as the action. Sometimes they take place months after. This can be for a handful of reasons. Sometimes there’s just not enough time in the moment to stop and conduct interviews, and other times they have to rework the story to fit how it happened in real life.

Sean Lowe says that they even kept a record of the clothes he work so they could re-create the scenes after-the-fact. Sean says, “I’d say things like, “I’m having a blast with Des tonight, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.” It wasn’t disingenuous, because I expressed what my true feelings were at the time. Mainly, it was boring.”

Sorry to disappoint, folks. This is just further proof that so much of what we see is completely constructed. Sean may have had those feelings at the time, but hearing he would say things like, “I think I’m falling for her” months after he’d already made his pick just feels kinda gross.
