35. It Only Takes About Two Months To Shoot An Entire Season
Sometimes, the way these contestants are crying and carrying on, it seems like they’ve known each other for a lot longer than they actually have. The show only films for about seven weeks.
Although that’s longer than some other reality shows about finding love, The Bachelor and it’s creator insists they want the contestants to have an authentic experience. “One of my dreams,” creator Mike Fleiss said, “is that a couple will fall so madly in love during the course of production that when it comes time to shoot the final episode, the final rose ceremony, they demand a justice of the peace be present, and they actually get married right there on the spot.”
By the time we see these men and women professing their undying love to one another, they’ve only been together – not even exclusively – for less than two months.
If you find that humiliating, just think about the folk who give up their L-card in the first few weeks. They have probably only been around their intended for a few short days. Shudder.
The counter point to that, according to executive producer Martin Hilton is “If you aren’t able to be vulnerable, whether it’s to the person and therefore to the cameras, despite the cameras around you, you might as well go home.”
Sometimes they are willing to be a little too vulnerable for the sake of advancement, if you ask me. Which nobody did.
