The Bachelor aired its penultimate episode last night, but the ratings aren’t going to make anyone at ABC happy.

What happens when one of the most popular shows on television takes a ratings dip? We’re going to find out, as ABC is dealing with a back-to-back ratings decline with one of its most popular products: The Bachelor.

It wasn’t a fatal decline, but ratings were down double digits from where they were last year with the Women Tell-All. That’s still steep, and something that ABC executives won’t be that thrilled about.

Here’s what Deadline had to say:

"ABC will likely not be very cool with the reality romance show declining 8% among adults 18-49 from last week. And they will be distinctly uncool with this season’s Women Tell All dropping 18% from the similar March 7 episode of last year."

But is it?

The Bachelor might have taken a two week ratings dip, but that’s hardly a death rattle for one of the most popular shows on television. People still watched this week’s show, plus the Women’s Tell-All in droves, but it was just down from the insane high it’s usually at.

That’s still not great, but let’s not panic. There could be a number of things hurting the ratings that aren’t long term things:

  • Rachel L, who we know doesn’t win, was still on the show as of this week
  • There was basically zero drama in the Tell-All, which is never interesting
  • Corinne is gone, which naturally means less of a chance for a train wreck

With just one more episode of the show left this season, the ratings should take a bounce back in the right direction with the finale.
