After being on The Bachelor, Ceila Quinn was close to having her chance to bring more diversity to the franchise, but was replaced shortly before filming began.
In the wake of the first black Bachelorette being announced last week, numerous former contestants on The Bachelor have come out to show their support. Ceila Quinn, who is half Filipino and would have brought some much needed diversity to the heavily scrutinized ‘white’ Bachelor franchise, is among those celebrating the announcement.
Rachel Lindsay was announced as the next Bachelorette on Monday, being the first woman of colour in a lead role.
Even though Quinn was unable to secure the role, she was nevertheless very happy when ABC announced Lindsay in this role.
In her interview with Us Weekly, Quinn said, “From the beginning she’s been a demure, fresh face for women to look up to and someone who definitely seems ready for a serious relationship.”
Even though Quinn ultimately wasn’t chosen as the lead, it’s nice to see her supporting a more diverse cast even when she wasn’t able.
“I think there’s so many things about her that a lot of different girls can relate to. It’s really exciting,” Quinn also mentioned to Us Weekly, explaining that girls can relate to Lindsay because of her intelligence and athleticism.
It’s very nice to see woman supporting other woman, rather than bringing them down.
As Quinn pointed out, Lindsay is a very diverse woman for many reasons. With her successful career and charismatic attitude, any man would be lucky to end up with Lindsay.
Wishing her nothing but good luck and positive vibes on her journey for love, part two.
