Corinne has been established as a villain on The Bachelor, but according to her mother it wasn’t her idea.
If you’ve watched this season of The Bachelor, you know that Corrine has emerged as the villain. She didn’t show up in a shark suit claiming to be a dolphin nor did she confront him out past relationships.
Instead, Corinne has embraced the crazy and has become a narcissistic villain that Bachelor fans love to hate. But not everyone is calling her out — some are coming to her defense.
Corinne’s mother, Peri Olympios, called out not only haters of her daughter but also Bachelor producers for pushing the villain role. In her rant, which was published by TMZ, Peri notes that the infamous whip cream moment from this season was basically staged by the producers who forced Corinne into doing ‘bad girl’ things.
Here’s the video, judge it for yourself:
“Most of it is fake,” Peri said in defense of Corinne. “Even when she decided to lose the top, she had coverups on.”
Peri is referring to the whip cream moment, in which it looked like Corrine flashed Nick thus forcing the producers to black bar her breast. The implication that coverups were used points to things being staged as far as building Corinne into a villain.
One thing that Peri admits is Corinne’s conscious decision to be the villain of this season. She specifically mentions Chad — the villain from JoJo’s season of The Bachelorette — as an example of being remembered as either the winner or the villain.
That doesn’t excuse Corinne’s antics but it does add some layers to her character. Rather than view her as a straight up villain, maybe this can help us further understand what goes into becoming the villain of a show that thrives on drama.
